In this role, you will be at the forefront of ensuring fire safety and compliance within our buildings, playing a critical part in maintaining the safety and well-being of everyone living in, working in, or visiting our properties.
As a Safe Homes Surveyor, you will be responsible for conducting cyclical inspections and maintenance of fire doors, ensuring they meet all safety standards. You will develop project briefs, manage budgets for capital and maintenance projects, and provide expert advice on fire safety issues. Your role will involve staying updated with advancements in fire door technology and industry best practices, incorporating these updates into our inspection and maintenance procedures.
Collaboration is key in this role. You will work closely with colleagues across the Housing Service to manage budgets effectively and ensure our communal areas remain safe. Partnering with contractors, you will oversee pre and post inspections to ensure work is completed to a satisfactory standard. Additionally, you will assist in formulating future maintenance plans and develop a five-year cyclical works plan for fire door maintenance.
The ability to remain calm and methodical when dealing with challenging situations is crucial. You will need to provide accurate technical and practical advice to customers and colleagues, ensuring that their inquiries are handled promptly and appropriately. Building strong, meaningful relationships with colleagues, contractors, and various stakeholders is essential. Tact, diplomacy, and analytical skills will be key to your success in this role.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join a busy, fast-paced team that deals with customers wishing to secure Social Housing within the borough. You will be working with a variety of households and client groups, some who may be vulnerable and will require information and guidance to ensure that they can make informed decisions on their choice for housing. We're looking for someone who can coordinate the overall programme which consists of 7 transformation projects. These projects cover service redesign, the recommissioning of the repairs and maintenance contract, the recommissioning of the facilities management contract, our post inspection service improvement work, our review of resident engagement in Housing, our housing digital transformation project, and our work to respond to the challenges of homelessness and increase the supply of temporary accommodation.
