Working across a range of diverse licensing areas, including alcohol, entertainment, taxis, gambling, charity collections, animal-related businesses, scrap metal dealers and skin piercing, the post-holder will be responsible for processing applications for licences and permits in accordance with statutory procedures, ensuring that licensees comply with legal requirements and standards, and providing technical information and advice to applicants, licensed businesses, and other persons affected by licensable activities.
We are looking for someone who is able to communicate effectively with a wide range of different audiences, and confident in using information technology throughout their work. Existing knowledge of local government licensing law would be an advantage, but is not essential.

The successful candidate will be managing the waiting list and re-letting allotment plots and arranging site repairs, invoicing for hire of sports facilities and co-ordinating pitch maintenance, and ensuring events are held safely and all relevant paperwork and infrastructure is in place.
You will be the point of contact for multiple customers and properties, including liaison with businesses advertising on roundabout space. The role will also include assisting to resolve issues concerning the standard, repair and maintenance of facilities, co-ordinating works and contractors if required.
We are seeking a candidate with a good level of general education including English and Maths, at least 1 years’ experience in a role which includes problem resolution, and administering of budgets, and some experience/knowledge of outdoor recreational activities
You will be able to juggle multiple priorities, and work independently and confidently, using your initiative to solve problems. You will need to demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, to draft letters, and sometimes to attend and facilitate external meetings with user groups/community associations etc and present information. You will need to demonstrate empathy, diplomacy, clarity and tact in dealing with customers. You will need to be a practical individual, and have patience where necessary.
Good Word and Excel skills, and ability to use/develop skills in using estates management and accounting applications will be essential. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join the Private Sector Housing Team.
Our Private Sector Housing Team regulates unsafe housing within the borough including fire safety in high, medium and low rise buildings and a reactive service to complaints with a view to rolling out proactive based working projects where ever possible.
You will be a motivated and proactive individual who will take responsibility for ensuring high standards, leading a team of 6 officers to regulate the private rented sector in Dacorum. The team is also responsible for delivering HMO licensing under the national mandatory scheme as well as providing sound advice to landlords, tenants and partner agencies.
The posts present an ideal opportunity for an individual who already has in-depth experience and knowledge of the regulation of the private sector and are perhaps looking to progress their careers into management. You will need to have the relevant level of qualification and experience in one or more of the service-specific subject areas, including a sound knowledge of regulatory requirements and enforcement.
You will act as advisor to the Assistant Director, Head of Service, Manager and senior management on the allocated service.

The opportunity has arisen for this vacancy within the Private Sector Housing Team. You will regulate Private Sector Housing in Dacorum and where required take enforcement action against landlords and liable parties with the aim to raise standards. This role will also support landlords and tenants in the private rented sector to understand their rights and responsibilities and play a key role in preventing homelessness.
You will be required to carry out inspections and take statutory action/s relating to private sector dwellings including houses in multiple occupation to ensure adequate standards. Establish property conditions and in particular identify category 1 or category 2 hazards and the most appropriate course of action in case work with regards to Housing Health and Safety Rating System assessment, the enforcement policy of the council and legislative powers.
You will be undertaking inspections of properties and taking enforcement actions when required on behalf of the service including HMO inspections, immigration visits, property inspections, HHSRS inspections and empty homes work. The role will also include you taking appropriate action, including prohibition orders, notices, civil penalties and prosecutions, when landlords and/or liable parties have failed to comply with legal responsibilities or breached license requirements required.
You will have excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to achieve defined performance targets. Support the Assistant Director, Head of Service and Team Leader as part of the service team, in delivering the corporate vision, values and strategic priorities of the Council.
Act as advisor to the Assistant Director, Head of Service, Team Leader and senior management on the allocated service.
Work in collaboration with other services and senior management to ensure that services are joined up appropriately and are aligned to the achievement of the Council’s aims and objectives.
